One of the best Star Trek books written is SAREK by A.C. Crispin. Another one (it's an old one) is the first one I read: VULCAN! by Kathleen Sky. THE GREAT STARSHIP RACE is great, and I think it's by Diane Carey. All of those are original series. One TNG novel I can recommend is CROSSOVER and I believe Michael Jan Friedman wrote that one. I could recommend a lot more, but this post would be awfully, AWFULLY long! :-)
